Hugh MacKinnon is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bennett Jones and a member of the firm's Partnership Board. Hugh had previously maintained an active corporate commercial practice in Calgary and Toronto.

Hugh is Chair of the Board of the C.D. Howe Institute, Chair of the Board of the Ontario Brain Institute, Co-Chair of the Canada Institute Advisory Board of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C. and Chair of Canada's Outstanding CEO of the Year. His memberships include the Royal Canadian Military Institute, the Ranchmen's Club, the Toronto Club, The Arts and Letters Club, the American Bar Association and a number of other social, professional and business organizations. He is a member of the Law Societies of Upper Canada, Alberta and England and Wales.

Marcia Moffat, Managing Director, is Head of Canada for BlackRock, a global investment management and technology solutions firm that manages over US$6.4 trillion in assets on behalf of investors worldwide.

As Country Head, Marcia is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of BlackRock's Canadian operations. Marcia is also a member of BlackRock's Global Operating Committee, Global Human Capital Committee and Americas Executive Committee.

Beyond the firm, Marcia is actively involved with several industry and not-for-profit organizations. She chairs the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance, sits on the board of the Ontario Brain Institute and the C.D. Howe Institute, is a member of the Business Council of Canada, and dedicates time to a number of philanthropic organizations.

Marcia has spent most of her career in financial services, including several years at the Royal Bank of Canada where she held progressively senior roles in Investment Banking, Investor Relations and Retail Banking. Earlier in her career, she worked as a corporate finance lawyer in the New York and Paris offices of Shearman & Sterling.

She holds an MBA and a Law degree from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Science (biology) degree from McGill. Marcia lives in Toronto with her husband and two sons.

Tom Mikkelsen, M.D., FRCPC is the President and Scientific Director of the Ontario Brain Institute (2015-present). He received his MD from the University of Calgary and completed clinical training in neurology at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Following this, he did post-doctoral training in tumour and molecular biology at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Montreal and then in La Jolla, California. Since 1992, he has led the brain tumour program at Henry Ford Hospital and was responsible for building the clinical trials program and laboratory of tumour biology. Together with other scientists, he helped assemble the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center, a leader in the understanding of the genetics of brain tumours and in the development of treatments for brain tumours. As Co-Director, he participated in the organization’s development on many levels spanning from face-to-face clinical care to clinical trials and translational and bench research.

Joyce Barretto is an Interim Executive, currently leading a large project that will enable a fundamental business transformation at Stikeman Elliott from a risk, lawyer efficiency and technology perspective. Her most recent roles have been in the home and community care sector, as Vice President, Corporate Services of what was formerly called Central Community Care Access Centre and prior to that, Vice President, Corporate Services for the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres. She also served as Assistant Deputy Minister for Public Infrastructure responsible for four large government agencies and as Executive Director for corporate services at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Joyce currently serves as a Board Director and Governance Committee member for the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority as well as Evergreen, the Brickworks. She is a past board member of Parkinson Canada and past Board Chair of the Metro Toronto Children’s Aid Society.

Joseph T. Coyle, MD, holds the Eben S. Draper Chair of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School, where he was Chairman of the Consolidated Department of Psychiatry (1991-2001). He received his MD from Johns Hopkins. He completed an internship in pediatrics, a residency in psychiatry, and a fellowship with the Nobel laureate Julius Axelrod, PhD. He joined the Hopkins faculty in 1975 and was named the Distinguished Service Professor of Child Psychiatry in 1985. He is a member of the U. S. National Academy of Medicine (1990), a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1993) and past president of the Society for Neuroscience (1991).

Susan Fitzpatrick is President of the James S. McDonnell Foundation, one of a limited number of international grant makers supporting university-based research in the biological and behavioural sciences through foundation-initiated programs via competitive, peer-review proposal processes. Susan received her PhD in Biochemistry and Neurology from Cornell University Medical College (1984). After five years pursuing in vivo NMR spectroscopic studies of brain metabolism in the Department of Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics at Yale University, her career shifted to non-profit administration. Susan was the Associate Executive Director of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis (1989-1992), a comprehensive basic science and applied science research center focused on restoring neurological function to persons with spinal cord injury. Her responsibilities included all public outreach and educational efforts and she served as the scientific liaison to the development, fundraising, and public relations staff. As Executive Director of the Brain Trauma Foundation (1992-1993), she guided the Foundation through a re-organization to become a leader in advancing the acute care of patients with traumatic brain injury. Joining the James S. McDonnell Foundation in 1993 as the Foundation's first Program Officer, she was later promoted to Program Director in 1997 and to Vice President in 2000. Susan is an adjunct associate professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy and the School of Occupational Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis). In addition to her board service with OBI, Susan also serves on the governing boards of the Association for Women in Science and the American Occupational Therapy Foundation. Susan lectures and writes on issues concerning the role of private philanthropy in the support of scientific research and on issues related to the public understanding of science.

Michael Horgan is a Senior Advisor with the law firm Bennett Jones LLP. He provides clients with advice on a range of economic, financial sector, energy and environment issues. Mr. Horgan had a 36-year career in the Public Service of Canada where he served as Deputy Minister of four Departments, including the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Indian and Northern Affairs, and Environment Canada. He retired from the Public Service in April 2014 after five years as Deputy Minister of Finance. He has also held the positions of G7/G20 Finance Deputy for Canada and Executive Director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean on the board of the International Monetary Fund. He has also served on a number of Crown corporation boards, including the Bank of Canada, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Export Development Canada. Mr. Horgan is currently a Director of the Canadian Ditchley Foundation, the Gairdner Foundation, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister's Outstanding Achievement Award for Public Service and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. Mr. Horgan has a B.A. in economics from Concordia University (Loyola College) and M.A.'s in economics from Queen's University and Princeton University.

Michelle Khalili is a Managing Director and Head, Global Equity Capital Markets at Scotiabank. Prior to that, Michelle was a member of the Private Capital Investment Banking team at CIBC, focused on pension funds, private equity and sovereign wealth funds. Before rejoining CIBC, Michelle spent four years at Goldman Sachs as Head of Equity Capital Markets – Canada and was a member of Goldman Sachs Canada's Board of Directors. Michelle also spent 12 years in the Equity Capital Markets group at CIBC, working on the origination and execution of equity financings in Canada.

Michelle is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Women's College Hospital, and is a member of their Quality & Academic Committee. Michelle is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Brain Institute and is on the Audit and Finance Committee. Michelle is past Chair of the 100 Women in Finance's Committee in Canada, a global organization of more than 15,000 professionals. Michelle also served as Vice Chair and Board member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada, and as a member of its Human Resources and Pension Committee.

Michelle has been involved in a number of community initiatives, including the Canadian Women's Foundation Girls Growth Fund, the Royal Ontario Museum – Fact or Fiction Committee and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure. She was recognized with an Industry Award for Leadership by Women in Capital Markets, and has received the WCM Executive Coaching Award and the Champions of Change Award.

Michelle earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and qualified for Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.

A native of Ottawa, Ms. Labarge holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from McMaster University and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. Ms. Labarge joined Royal Bank in 1971 and held a variety of positions within the bank prior to being appointed an executive officer in 1979. She left the bank in 1985 to join the federal government as assistant auditor-general where she was responsible for a report on Financial Management and Control in the Government of Canada. She joined the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada in 1987 as deputy superintendent, policy responsible for developing regulatory policies for Canadian financial institutions. She was a member of the BIS Committee for Bank Supervision. In her last position as deputy superintendent, deposit-taking institutions, Ms. Labarge was responsible for all matters relating to deposit-taking institutions. Ms. Labarge returned to the bank as executive vice-president, Corporate Treasury, in April 1995. She assumed the role of chief risk officer in October 1998 and was appointed vice-chairman and chief risk officer in February 1999. She retired from that position in December 2004. Ms. Labarge is a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit Committee of Coca-Cola Enterprises. She also serves on the Board of Directors, the Audit Committee and the Risk and Finance Committee of XL Group and is trustee for a Canadian family trust and director of associated companies. She was a member of the Supervisory Board and Risk Committee of Deutsche Bank. She has served as a director and chair of the audit committee of Novelis Inc. and was also a member of the Board of the Bank of China, Beijing. She served on the Board of Governors for McMaster University for twelve years. She was appointed Chancellor of McMaster University in Sept. 2013. She was granted an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from McMaster University and is a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee medal.

Jeffrey Lozon is Chairman of Lozon Associates advisory services and a Corporate Director. Until April 2014 when he retired he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Revera Inc., a leading provider of senior’s accommodation, care and services with 250 sites and 30,000 employees in Canada and the United States. Prior to joining Revera in 2009, Mr. Lozon held a 17-year tenure as President and CEO of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He was previously seconded to the position of Deputy Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for the Province of Ontario from 1999-2000. He has also served on a number of national and provincial committees and organizations, including Chairing the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and Vice Chair of Canada Health Infoway. Mr. Lozon holds an honourary Doctor of Civil Laws from Bishops University, a Masters of Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Guelph. In 2009, he was appointed as a Member to the Order of Canada.

Valerie Pringle is a journalist and broadcaster. A graduate of Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson, she has hosted daily news and current affairs programs on CFRB Radio in Toronto, CBC-TV’s MIDDAY and CTV’s Canada AM from 1980-2001. She has hosted and produced documentaries and series for CBC, CTV, Discovery and Vision. As well, she is actively involved in many not-for-profit Boards as co-Chair of the Trans Canada Trail Foundation, Board Member of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation, the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the Canadian Broadcast Heritage Museum. She is the spokesperson for the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research and a member of the Ryerson University Campaign Cabinet. She was awarded the Order of Canada for her contributions to Communications and public service in 2006.

Todd Vienneau is a proven pharmaceutical industry leader with 20 years of experience across multiple disciplines. He is currently Director - Medical, Regulatory & Quality at Insulet Canada. Prior to that Todd was National Head, Clinical Specialists & Customer Care -Omnipod and Director, Business Development responsible for New Growth Opportunities at GlaxoSmithKline Canada. He joined GlaxoSmithKline (then GlaxoWellcome) in 1999 and has held multiple senior management positions across many functions including Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Pharmaceutical Development. In 2006, Todd received GSK's Spirit Award for Leadership. Prior to joining GlaxoSmithKline, Todd was with Proctor & Gamble in both their Canadian and Global operations working in OTC Health Care Product Development and Pharmaceutical New Product Development teams. During his career Todd has been involved in the development and commercialization of many products across multiple disease areas. His broad functional and therapeutic area experience provides a solid foundation for leading efforts across a wide spectrum of disciplines. Todd holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo, has excellent people management and communication skills along with a commercial-oriented strategic focus.

Mr. Rotman was Chairman of Roy-L Capital Corporation, a privately-held family investment company. He launched his business career in 1962 after receiving his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1957; M. Comm. from the University of Toronto in 1960; during 1960-61 he studied at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in the Ph.D. program. In 2012, Mr. Rotman was appointed as Chancellor of Western University for a four-year term. He was awarded honorary degrees from the University of Toronto (1994), Western University (2009), and Memorial University (2013).He was made Officer of the Order of Canada in 1995. Mr. Rotman has been involved in establishing private and public companies and in contributing to advancing Canadian life sciences research; the development of Canada’s innovation and commercialization capacity; and related public policy at the federal and provincial levels. He led the creation of the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care affiliated with the University of Toronto, and served two three-year terms on the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), 2000-2006. In 2009, Joseph Rotman was appointed Chair of Grand Challenges Canada, a new global health organization funded by the Federal Government to deliver the Development Innovation Fund announced in the 2008 Budget. Grand Challenges Canada is dedicated to supporting bold ideas with big impact in global health. In 2009, along with Dr. Joseph Martin, Dean Emeritus of Harvard Medical School, Mr. Rotman co-led a major review of the state of brain research in Ontario (2008-09), which led to the recommendation to the Provincial Government that it create the Ontario Brain Institute. In 2013, he was reappointed for a 2nd consecutive five year term as Chair of Canada Council for the Arts. This Crown corporation has for over half a century been the principal conduit of federal support to Canada’s professional artists and organizations by grants, endowments and prizes that celebrate creativity by recognizing exceptional Canadians in the arts, humanities and sciences. He has served as a Director on corporate boards including the Bank of Montreal, Barrick Gold Corporation, Canada Northwest Energy Ltd., Masonite International, and TrizecHahn Corp. He served as Chair of the Board as Founder of Tarragon Oil and Gas, Geocrude Energy, and PanCana Resources, amongst others. He is also Founder and Director of Clairvest Group Inc. He was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame as a Companion in May 2009; presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from Life Sciences Ontario in February 2012; presented with the Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 Ontario Lifetime Achievement Award from Ernst & Young in October, 2012.

Donald T. Stuss, O.C., O. Ont., PhD, FRSC, FCAHS, ABPP-CN, is the Founding President and Scientific Director (2011- 2015) of the Ontario Brain Institute. He is an adjunct (on leave of absence) Senior Scientist at the Rotman Research Institute of Baycrest Centre; University of Toronto Professor of Medicine (Neurology and Rehabilitation Science) and Psychology; founding Director of the Rotman Research Institute, from 1989 to 2008, Reva James Leeds Chair in Neuroscience and Research Leadership 2001-2009, and Vice-President Research, at Baycrest, 1991-2004, 2006-2009; Vice-President Academic Education at Baycrest 2006-2008; interim Director and CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Centre for Stroke Recovery 2008-2009. Honors: Fellow of CPA, APA (Divisions 3, 6, 20, 40), APS, American Heart and Stroke Association, AAAS; University of Toronto Faculty Award (2004); University Professor status, University of Toronto (2004); APA/APF FJ McGuigan Lecture on Understanding the Human Mind (2007); Michener Institute Honorary Diploma (2008); Dr. Gonzalo Rodriquez Lafora Lecture, Spanish Neurological Society (2010); National Academy of Neurosciences 2011 Lifetime Contributions to Neuropsychology Award: 3rd Annual Charles Branch BrainHealth Award, University of Texas at Dallas (2012); Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012); International Neuropsychological Society Lifetime Achievement Award (2013); Gold Key Award American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (2014). His research focuses on understanding and treating the cognitive functions and personality changes associated with the frontal lobes as they occur after stroke, normal elderly, and in those with traumatic brain injury or dementia. He has one co-authored book, and four co-edited books; over 205 publications and 50 chapters; and presented over 270 invited scientific lectures and workshops. His publications have been cited over 18,000 times.
